The timing could not be better...if you are Rove or Bush or anyone trying to hide something. What Luck There were oddities surrounding Paul Wellstones plane crash that were never reported by the MSM...Then of course ther is JFK Jr. until I looked into it I believed accident...but now I firmly believe it was not a careless simple accident. Im interested to see where this story goes...

'Karl Rove's IT guru' Mike Connell dies in plane crash

Filed by RAW STORY

A top level Republican IT consultant who was set to testify in a case alleging GOP election tampering in Ohio died in a plane crash late Friday night.

Michael Connell -- founder of Ohio-based New Media Communications, which created campaign Web sites for George W. Bush and John McCain -- died instantly after his single-prop, private aircraft smashed into a vacant home in suburban Lake Township, Ohio.

"The plane was attempting to land around 6 p.m. Friday at Akron-Canton Airport when it crashed about three miles short of the runway," reports the Akron Beacon Journal.

Connell's exploits as a top GOP IT 'guru' have been well documented by RAW STORY's investigative team.

The interest in Mike Connell stems from his association with a firm called GovTech, which he had spun off from his own New Media Communications under his wife Heather Connell’s name. GovTech was hired by Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to set up an official election website at to presented the 2004 presidential returns as they came in.

Connell is a long-time GOP operative, whose New Media Communications provided web services for the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign, the US Chamber of Commerce, the Republican National Committee and many Republican candidates. This in itself might have raised questions about his involvement in creating Ohio’s official state election website

When will we say ENOUGH?

AP study finds $1.6B went to bailed-out bank execs
The Associated Press
Sunday, December 21, 2008
Banks that are getting taxpayer bailouts awarded their top executives nearly $1.6 billion in salaries, bonuses, and other benefits last year, an Associated Press analysis reveals.

The rewards came even at banks where poor results last year foretold the economic crisis that sent them to Washington for a government rescue. Some trimmed their executive compensation due to lagging bank performance, but still forked over multimillion-dollar executive pay packages.

Benefits included cash bonuses, stock options, personal use of company jets and chauffeurs, home security, country club memberships and professional money management, the AP review of federal securities documents found.

The total amount given to nearly 600 executives would cover bailout costs for many of the 116 banks that have so far accepted tax dollars to boost their bottom lines.......THE REST HERE

Baucus sells out Americans to Insurance companies!

I recently wrote to our Senator Max Baucus who was recently re Elected. I wanted to find out what type of health care reform he stands for...because they all will tell you they are for reform and have Americans best interest in mind! I wanted to Know if he is for the People...Or the corporations? Guess what....It appears that Max is for big business at the expense of the people....his health proposal was probably engineered by the insurance industry..(that's why they back it) Max is no Friend of mine or yours....I wish I could take my vote back.

Here is what he says in the last BS. report he emailed to comments in bold...

Finding Solutions
We must find in-depth, innovative solutions to our health care crisis. Reform can’t –and won’t- come overnight, but by working together I’m confident we can make great strides in health care reform.
Under my plan:
• Insurance companies will compete for business- which will bring down costs- but they will also be required to meet minimum standards for coverage, including preventive care. (don't they already compete...or is that an illusion...the same illusion of competition youll see if this bill is passed....denials, rate hikes, red tape...its a damn business...they need to make a of your illness)• No one would be denied coverage or face higher costs because of their past medical history or for going to the doctor more often.
• A technology based medical records system would streamline the health care application process.(they just want to track your info better so they can deny you, this is kinda curious about this records system)
• More people who can’t afford health insurance to be immediately covered through Medicaid, Medicare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. (until you get a job then employers control your health insurance, this plan really sucks...and to think I had hope in Baucus)In Montana, we know how to solve problems, how to build our communities, how to take care of each other. If a neighbor is sick, we bring soup, medicine and comfort. Now, our health care system is ailing. And the time has come to find the cure.
Together we can make this happen.

Baucus is a puppet for the insurance companies....No back bone!

This is whitewater all over. This is a partisan republican investigation that started 3 years ago into the tollways around Chicago. Why is the charge now claiming Blago is actually trying to sell a senate seat? Because this investigation has tried to dredge up.........

The Spitzer story -- Something doesn't add up Because frankly, that suggests a return to the bad old days where one of the major activities of the FBI was gathering dirt on every politician in Washington (not to mention civil rights leaders and others who had somehow run afoul of J. Edgar Hoover), which was then used to intimidate them politically. And that's much more disturbing to me than Elliot Spitzer's tawdry, and apparently very expensive, personal life.

Is There A Bigger Story Behind Spitzer's Downfall?By Susie Madrak Tuesday Dec 16, 2008 9:00am Via Skimble, a most interesting theory:

I have yet to see this reported anywhere, but an anonymous commenter named trademonster on an investment forum said this (notice the dates):

I've heard that SEC is going to shut down Madoff financial and all of their hedge funds for SEC violations. Can anyone confirm this?

Governor Rod Blagojevich: Corrupt Politician or Working Class Hero?
Or maybe both. He’s been all over the news today — another politician turns out to be corrupt. Rod Blagojevich and Elliot Spitzer have both stood up to the robber barons on behalf of regular people. Too bad they’ll both be remembered for their scandals more than anything else.

Shades of SpitzerEliot Spitzer, the Governor of New York, got a little too close to the truth in naming who was to blame for the economic crisis and was taken down for something that all his peers do. Rod Blagojevich, the Governor of Illinois, stood with the workers in the class war being conducted against them by the Bank Of America. Soon after, the FBI arrested him. I don't know whether he's guilty or not - all Chicago politicians are guilty of something - but you have to wonder if the authorities keep a dossier on every politician for use if any of them somehow fall on the wrong side of the class war. If Blagojevich hadn't stood up to the Bank Of America, would he never have been arrested? Was his quick arrest - and Spitzer's - a warning to other politicians?

Why do comedians and Musicians get it.....Why dont we??

As incredible as this may seem, it is a truth that has been well proven and documented. It is also a truth that has been vigorously suppressed because the cancer industry is big business at its worst.

You or someone you love may have been diagnosed with cancer, and you are very much afraid. You have been taught by the disease establishment that you have a life threatening condition, and you had better sign on for the "standard of care" treatments before it is too late. Your doctors have thrown all sorts of frightening statistics at you about what will happen if you don't have immediate surgery followed by radiation, chemotherapy, and ......the rest

How We Got the Worst Health Care System Mountains of Money Can Buy

How We Got the Worst Health Care System Mountains of Money Can BuyBy Jeremy Brecher and Tim Costello and Brendan Smith,

As Americans respond to President-elect Barack Obama's call for town hall meetings on reform of the American health care system, an understanding of how that system came to be the way it is can be crucial for figuring out how to fix it. The American health care system is unique because, for most of us, it is tied to our jobs rather than to our government. For many Americans, the system seems natural, but few know that it originated not as a well-thought-out plan to provide for Americans' health, but as a way to circumvent a quirk in wartime wage regulations that had nothing to do with health.

As far back as the 1920s, a few big employers had offered health insurance plans to some of their workers. But only a few: By 1935, only about 2 million people were covered by private health insurance, and on the eve of World War II, there were only 48 job-based health plans in the entire country.

The rise of unions in the 1930s and 1940s led to the first great expansion of health care for Americans. But ironically, it did not produce a national plan providing health care to all, like those in virtually all other developed countries. Instead, the special conditions of World War II produced the system of job-based health benefits we know today.

In 1942, the United States set up a National War Labor Board. It had the power to set a cap on all wage increases. But it let employers circumvent the cap by offering "fringe benefits" -- notably, health insurance. The fringe benefits created a huge tax subsidy; they were treated as tax-deductible expenses for corporations, but not as taxable income for workers.

The result was revolutionary. Companies and unions quickly negotiated new health insurance plans. Some were run by Blue Cross, Blue Shield and private insurance companies. Others were "Taft-Hartley funds," run jointly by management and unions. By 1950, half of all companies with fewer than 250 workers and two-thirds of all companies with more than 250 workers offered health insurance of one kind or another. By 1965, nearly three-quarters of the population was covered by some kind of private health insurance.

This private, job-based insurance covered millions of workers who had never had health care insurance before. But this victory also set patterns that are responsible for many of the problems the health care system faces today.

Because this private system was tied to employment, millions of people outside the workforce were without coverage. Those most likely to be covered were salaried or unionized white men in Northern industrial states. Two-thirds of those with incomes under $2,000 a year were not covered, nor were nearly half of nonwhites and those over 65 years old.

Employer-based plans tied workers to their jobs -- something that benefited employers but not workers or the economy as a whole. The quality of the coverage was spotty -- some plans were excellent, others completely inadequate. Doctors accepted this revolution because it didn't challenge their power; but, as a result, the system provided no public control over medical costs.

This revolution had a subtle political effect as well. By giving much of the workforce health benefits, it reduced the incentive for them to pursue a system of universal care. And it gave unions a stake in the private, employer-based health care system. One opponent of publicly financed health care said the greatest bulwark against the socialization of medicine was furthering the progress already made by voluntary health insurance plans.

Since then, many layers have been laid on top of employer-based health care. Medicare and Medicaid provided government-funded health insurance for the elderly and impoverished. The "managed care revolution" led to the takeover of 90 percent of employer-based health care by HMOs, most of them driven by profit rather than health concerns. But most people continue to get their health care through their employer.

Many of the problems of American health care grow out of this history. The system is so complex that even experts -- let alone ordinary people trying to find care for themselves and their loved ones -- are unable to fully understand it. The system spends one-third of its cost on paperwork, waste and profit over and above the cost of actually providing health care. Yet, nearly one-third of Americans are without health insurance over the course of a year. In all other developed countries, more than 85 percent of citizens have health coverage under public programs. The American health care system is full of inequalities: People who work for one company may have high-quality insurance, while those who work for a similar company have none.

All of these problems are due at least in part to an employer-based system, the original intent of which was not to provide quality health care to all, but to circumvent wartime wage regulations. As we begin to debate how to reform health care, we should keep in mind that the American health care system was not created to express American values or to meet Americans' health care needs. And knowing that, we should not be afraid to change the system if we can come up with a better one.

This piece is excerpted from "Doctor Wall Street: How the American Health Care System Got So Sick," from a popular pamphlet on the history of the American health care system available for free download at

A few good MEN

"Now, some may ask how, at this moment of economic challenge, we can afford to invest in reforming our health care system. Well, I ask a different question – I ask how we can afford not to." [Barack Obama, today.]

On the occasion of Barack Obama's rollout of his health policy team, and given that, according to a couple of pieces of paper I have around here somewhere, I'm a doctor, this seems a good time to spout off -- yet again -- on the state of health care in the US. What it really boils down to is this: we need to reduce cost and raise quality. As long as the discussion is only about paperwork, ie, single payer vs current insurers, electronic vs paper records; and as long as the only real efforts to control costs are in reducing payments to providers, we'll be getting nowhere. As usual.

I've written about why I favor single-payer, and have acknowledged that among physicians I'm in a distinct minority. I've said pretty much all I know about that aspect of it. Moreover: as controversial as it is, it's really only nibbling around the edges. Solutions --REAL solutions -- will come from fundamentally changing the nature of care itself, and how we provide it. And if you think addressing insurance is complicated and daunting, you ain't seen nothin'

The HMO Death Watch 2 - How Shall We Regard Medicare Advantage?
December 12th, 2008 by DrRich

DrRich has never really understood the government’s rationale for funding Medicare Advantage.

Being a Milton Friedman capitalist, DrRich is all in favor of having plenty of robust, profit-seeking entities knocking about within the American economy, even within the healthcare sector of the economy. In principle, he is even in favor of giving for-profit health insurance companies a chance to prove that they can deliver quality healthcare with greater efficiency and better outcomes than certain non-profit entities, such as, say, the government. If the insurance companies can give us good healthcare at lower cost, more here

What about Breast Cancer??

Norway Study

Radiation combined with Radiation

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among American women between the ages of 44 and 55. Dr. Gofinan, in his book, Preventing Breast Cancer, cites this startling statistic along with an in-depth look at mammographic screening, an early-detection practice that agencies like the American Cancer Society recommend to women of all age groups. According to most health experts, catching a tumor in its early stages increases a woman's chances of survival by at least 17 percent.
The most common method for early detection is mammography. A mammogram is an X-ray picture of your breast that can reveal tumor growths otherwise undetectable in a physical exam. Like all x-rays, mammograms use doses of ionizing radiation to create this image. Radiologists then analyze the image for any abnormal growths. Despite continuous improvements and innovations, mammography has garnered a sizable opposition in the medical community because of an error rate that is still high and the amount of harmful radiation used in the procedure.
Effectiveness of Mammography
Is mammography an effective tool for detecting tumors? Some critics say no. In a Swedish study of 60,000 women, 70 percent of the mammographically detected tumors weren't tumors at all. These "false positives" aren't just financial and emotional strains, they may also lead to many unnecessary and invasive biopsies. In fact, 70 to 80 percent of all positive mammograms do not, upon biopsy, show any presence of cancer.
At the same time, mammograms also have a high rate of missed tumors, or "false negatives." Dr. Samuel S. Epstein, in his book, The Politics Of Cancer, claims that in women ages 40 to 49, one in four instances of cancer is missed at each mammography. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) puts the false negative rate even higher at 40 percent among women ages 40-49. National Institutes of Health spokespeople also admit that mammograms miss 10 percent of malignant tumors in women over 50. Researchers have found that breast tissue is denser among younger women, making it difficult to detect tumors. For this reason, false negatives are twice as likely to occur in premenopausal mammograms.
Radiation Risks
Many critics of mammography cite the hazardous health effects of radiation. In 1976, the controversy over radiation and mammography reached......

Danger and Unreliability of Mammography Breast Examination is a Safe, Effective, and Practical Alternative
by Samuel S. Epstein , Rosalie Bertell, Ph.D., GNSH and Barbara Seaman
Published in International Journal of Health Services, Volume 31, Number 3, Pages 605-615, 2001
2001, Baywood Publishing Co., Inc.

Mammography screening is a profit-driven technology posing risks compounded by unreliability. In striking contrast, annual clinical breast examination (CBE) by a trained health professional, together with monthly breast self-examination (BSE), is safe, at least as effective, and low in cost. International programs for training nurses how to perform CBE and teach BSE are critical and overdue.
Contrary to popular belief and assurances by the U.S. media and the cancer establishment--the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and American Cancer Society (ACS)--mammography is not a technique for early diagnosis. In fact, a breast cancer has usually been present for about eight years before it can finally be detected. Furthermore, screening should be recognized as damage control, rather than misleadingly as «secondary prevention.

Mammography poses a wide range of risks of which women worldwide still remain uninformed.

Docs Tell Younger Women: Avoid Mammograms
Source Washington
Posted Apr 3, 07 8:16 AM CDT in US, Science & Health
(Newser) – Forty-something women should consider skipping their annual mammograms, the American College of Physicians is suggesting after a new review of research. Docs point to danger from radiation and unnecessary biopsies, surgery and chemotherapy, thanks in part to a high rate of false positives. "We don't think the evidence supports a blanket recommendation," one of the authors told the Washington Post.

The guidelines contradict the advice of the American Cancer Society, which encourages women over 40 to get yearly mammograms. But the ACP's study, which reviewed the past four decades of scientific literature on mammograms, found that screenings might not reduce that population's breast cancer rate at all.

I did notice a flaw/propaganda in this says.....

"Roughly one in three cancers in low-income countries are caused by chronic infections like hepatitis B, human papilloma virus (HPV), and HIV. These cancers are increasingly preventable or treatable, but vaccination, screening, and treatment are not widely available in these countries. "

The hpv vaccine doesnt fully prevent or cure is only effective against a few of the 30 strains of HPV...and death may occur from the Vaccine alone.

How to cure cancer??

Full articleScientists tell us that if we give our bodies the nutrition, water, sunlight, exercise and rest they’re designed to use, they should be good for 150 years. We’re only averaging half that, so we’re really screwing up. Most of us are screwing up on all five requirements.

How often do you sleep for eight hours, and in total darkness and quiet?

How often to you get out for at least a couple miles of fast walking?

Is it a news flash to you that your skin and eyes need to be exposed to the sun...and not through your car windows?

There’s no way you’re drinking the six to eight glasses of pure water every day that your body needs. Nutrition is where we are really doing a job on our bodies. We happily stuff in poisons like sugar, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, aspartame, and, by far the most insidious, cooked food.

When our body design was firmed up we were eating raw food. And that includes meat. I learned about that when I read Dr. Bruno Comby´s Maximize Immunity . He points out that in dog and cat research, those fed cooked food only lived about half as long as those eating raw food. Not being stupid, Dr. Comby started putting his patients on raw food diets...and curing them of cancer, AIDS, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and so on, He could find NO incurable illnesses.

Then I heard Dr. Lorraine Day on the radio explaining that she was days from death from cancer when she changed to raw food and totally cured herself. She, too, now says, "There are NO incurable illnesses." You can read all about it, plus many details, in my Secret Guide to Health.

Once you change over to a raw food diet, drink enough pure water, exercise out in the sun, and get enough sleep, any illness you have, no matter how supposedly incurable, will go away and you’ll never get sick again. The gift of health. There is no greater gift.

The downside is that if we can start convincing others to go raw, we could put the pharmaceutical industry out of business, and need doctors and hospitals mainly for emergencies. You see, medical schools don’t teach doctors about what makes us sick, only how to treat the symptoms. Oh, check Dr. Mercola, too. He’s eating 90% raw now.

If a solar flare, pole shift, a few nukes lobbed at us, or terrorists take down the power grid, its lights out. The gas pumps will stop working, and so will cars and trucks...and our food supply will stop. That’s when you’re going to be thankful you’ve a garden growing your food.

And doing it organically, plus remineralizing it with rock dust. And it won’t hurt to have some solar and/or wind power to keep your fridge and freezer going.

Even more likely is a stock market crash, with bread lines and soup kitchens as millions of people are out of work and their families hungry.

I was only seven in 1929, but I still remember the panic. And that depression kept going until World War II pulled us out of it. Now, with nuclear weapons, we can’t do that again. Luckily, my dad was in the airline business, which was just getting started, so he did okay.

That’s how I happened to be a passenger on the first airline flight between Philadelphia and New York in 1928. Newark airport had a cinder landing strip and a terminal the size of a mobile home.

It’s your choice. You can continue to eat the standard American diet, with a 50% chance of giving yourself cancer, and find yourself unprepared when things crash. Remember, we’ve moved most of our manufacturing to Asia, so as a country we are not making many products.

We’re buying Japanese cars and electronics, and Chinese melamine...and everything else. We really can’t continue to make money as a country just by printing it. Maybe it’s time for you to invest in some gardening books and a whole bunch of non-GMO heritage seeds. I’d like to see our schools encourage the students to start gardens, and if the families don’t have any garden space, for the communities or schools to help the kids find some land within bicycling distance.

If the government crashes, there goes welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, subsidies, bail-outs, a thousand or so earmarks, the war on drugs, the war on poverty, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and millions of government workers (I’m using the term workers loosely). The only main survivor will be Congress´ generous retirement plan for themselves.

Safe food to eat could be hard to find, with so much of America’s farmland now devoted to growing GMO corn to make alcohol and the rest to factory-feed beef. The mineral-depleted, chemical fertilizer-poisoned farms aren’t going to be able to raise edible cabbages and spinach for us. With the dollar defunct, we won’t be able import much food either. What a terrible time to live in a city!

On the other hand, I’m sure Obama will fix everything, so no real need to worry. We can keep eating burgers and fries, and budgeting $7,350 per household member for so-called health care per year.

Yeah, make it a diet cola with that.

Movie to watch

Im watching this movie tonight, ill let you know if its any good tomorrow...

Why be choosey when shopping??

I remember when I lived in Santiago Chile and going shopping at we refer to as the "Farmer's Market". There were at least bi-weekly markets in all neighbor hoods. There were very few grocery stores, people bought what they ate fresh, had very little garbage, supported local economy, and didn't need to have a giant refrigerator and massive storage for food.

We can only afford to do this now because of the artificially low energy prices that we currently enjoy, and by externalizing the environmental costs of such a wasteful food system. We do this also to the detriment of small farmers by subsidizing large scale, agribusiness-oriented agriculture with government handouts and artificially cheap energy.

I reflect on those experiences when I shop here in Missoula or go to the store. At Costco or other stores like Walmart you can see people leave with a massive bounty of food stuff and other goods. My attitude has shifted from being a box store addict to, well lets see...ill describe it!! (its hard)

Cheap energy and agricultural subsidies facilitate a type of agriculture that is destroying and polluting our soils and water, weakening our communities, and concentrating wealth and power into a few hands. It is also threatening the security of our food systems, as demonstrated by the continued e-Coli, GMO-contamination, and other health scares that are often seen nowadays on the news.

We joined a co-op, Trying to ween my better half off Walmart, we buy much less processed and packaged food. We dint buy too much from the co-op yet and I cant bring myself to brave the Local farmer's market scene...and it is a scene. over all it takes discipline and quite a bit more effort to eat healthy and shop responsibly.

Why do it? It is not just about eating organic, as a matter of fact I don't really focus on organic as much as locally grown. We have some excellent local farmers who don't jump through the USDA hoop of red tape, bureaucracy and fees and actually have higher standards. So I can buy stuff where I know the grower, know where it was grown. Also it wasn't shipped 1500 miles and harvested prematurely to adjust for shelf life at the super market.

Most produce in the US is picked 4 to 7 days before being placed on supermarket shelves, and is shipped for an average of 1500 miles before being sold. And this is when taking into account only US grown products! Those distances are substantially longer when we take into consideration produce imported from Mexico, Asia, Canada, South America, and other places.

What is becoming an even more significant reason is that the money we spend supports a local economy, a local family, a local school. It doesnt go to a corporate farmer or some other agri-giant that has found a way to manipulate the system and is only socially responsible and organic on the nifty packaging.

These large-scale, agribusiness-oriented food systems are bound to fail on the long term, sunk by their own unsustainability. But why wait until we're forced by circumstance to abandon our destructive patterns of consumption? We can start now by buying locally grown food whenever possible. By doing so you'll be helping preserve the environment, and you'll be strengthening your community by investing your food dollar close to home. Only 18 cents of every dollar, when buying at a large supermarket, go to the grower. 82 cents go to various unnecessary middlemen. Cut them out of the picture and buy your food directly from your local farmer.

Family farms are an important part of the American tradition of self-sufficiency, forming the bedrock for communities across the U.S.

Since 1935, the U.S. has lost 4.7 million farms. Fewer than one million Americans now claim farming as a primary occupation.

Asthma Drugs Controversy

FDA Safety Scientists Warn About Deaths - 4 Asthma Drugs
The New York Times reports (below) "Two federal drug officials have concluded that asthma sufferers risk death if they continue to use four hugely popular asthma drugs - Advair, Symbicort, Serevent and Foradil...."Sudden deaths among asthmatics still clutching their inhalers have fed the debate." Full article here

Published: December 5, 2008
WASHINGTON — Two federal drug officials have concluded that asthma sufferers risk death if they continue to use four hugely popular asthma drugs — Advair, Symbicort, Serevent and Foradil. But the officials’ views are not universally shared within the government.

The two officials, who work in the safety division of the Food and Drug Administration, wrote in an assessment on the agency’s Web site on Friday that asthma sufferers of all ages should no longer take the medicines. A third drug-safety official concluded that Advair and Symbicort could be used by adults but that all four drugs should no longer be used by people age 17 and under.

Dr. Badrul A. Chowdhury, director of the division of pulmonary and allergy products at the agency, cautioned in his own assessment that the risk of death associated with the drugs was small and that banning their use “would be an extreme approach” that could lead asthmatics to rely on other risky medications.

Once unheard of, public disagreements among agency experts have occurred on occasion in recent years. The agency is convening a committee of experts on Wednesday and Thursday to sort out the disagreement, which has divided not only the F.D.A. but also clinicians and experts for more than a decade.

Sudden deaths among asthmatics still clutching their inhalers have fed the debate. But trying to determine whether the deaths were caused by patients’ breathing problems or the inhalers has proved difficult.

The stakes for drug makers are high. Advair sales last year were $6.9 billion and may approach $8 billion this year, making the medication GlaxoSmithKline’s biggest seller and one of the biggest-selling drugs in the world. Glaxo also sells Serevent, which had $538 million in sales last year

Top Five Ways to Avoid GMOs in Your Food
by Dr. Gregory Damato, Ph.D., citizen journalist

(NaturalNews) Recent polls across the world have consistently shown that, if they had a choice, 90% of people would actively seek to avoid GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in their food. The large multinational corporations of the world have gone through extensive measures to ensure the citizens of most nations have no possible way of knowing whether the food they and their children are eating contain contaminants of GMOs. The labelling of GMOs on the packaging of any foods in the US for example, is illegal. For example, if a company like Kellogs decided to include a full disclosure label on their cereal box that stated, "contains genetically modified corn" they could be sued by the manufacturer and then face possible prison time.

This is a very important issue because the democratic process of many nations has been surreptitiously supplanted by the corporatocracy of the seed company juggernauts. America has one of the highest levels of GMOs in their food chain in the western world with up to 85% of its pre-packaged and processed foods coming from genetic engineering. The people have never asked for GMOs- but got them anyway. The people then asked that they be properly labeled so they could avoid them- they were ignored. Therefore, seeing how our health freedom and well-being is consistently under attack from large multi-national corporations only seeking to increase profits at the expense of our health, what are we to do?

What we can do is simply try to avoid the GMO contaminants altogether and be extremely vigilant of how we spend our money and which companies we are choosing to support. Here are five simple and effective ways to decrease your contact with untested, toxic and dangerous GMOs.

1.) Buy Locally Produced Food

For now, GMOs are only used by large multinational corporations who buy direct from large farms. Produce from local mom and pop farmers have yet to become genetically modified. Purchasing locally grown food supports your local farmers and your health. Not to worry about GMO tomatoes and potatoes as they have all been pulled from the market.

2.) Buy Organically Grown Food

For now, the organic certification process is a relatively safe bet to ensure your food is free of GMOs, although this may not be the case in the future. Help support global sustainability by purchasing certified organically grown food.

3.) Avoid the Top Four GMO Crops of Soy, Corn, Canola and Cottonseed

This is a bit tricky as most blended oils in North America contain canola and cottonseed. Whenever you go out to dinner and receive anything fried, you are most likely consuming GMOs from the oil, not to mention transfat. A way around this would be to purchase 100% extra virgin olive oil, but be sure to avoid the term olive oil as most of it is blended with some GMO cottonseed or canola. Unless it specifically states "Non-GMO" or some derivation on the label, it most likely contains GMOs.

Likewise, any time you go you consume corn chips, tacos or soy milk, you are eating GMOs, again unless it specifically states Non-GMO or is organic.

4.) Avoid Artificial Additives and Sweeteners

Most of use are aware of the dangers behind the artificial sweetener and excitotoxin, aspartame (known as preservative E951), but may not be aware that it is created using genetic modification. Even the majority of vitamin C (asorbic Acid) and many B vitamins have been created via genetic modification. A Japanese company was forced to pull GMO L-Tryptophan off the market in 1989 after thousands of people became severely ill with many developing an extremely rare blood disorder called, Esinophilia-Myalgia Syndrome (EMS), although the FDA never publicly mentioned that GMO contamination was the true cause of the recall.

5.) Look For the Non-GMO Label

This includes all animals used for food because most are typically fed GMO feed. If it does not state Non-GMO on the label, then email the manufacturer and ask if they use GMO feed. It is best to attempt to contact all of the manufacturers of the foods you generally eat on a daily or even weekly basis and determine whether GMOs ingredients are utilized in the food. You have a fundamental right to know whether the foods you are consuming have been contaminated with GMOs. When in doubt always look for the Non-GMO label, and unfortunately assume that it has been genetically modified unless the opposite have been explicitly stated.

5 misconceptions about health care (published Sunday, 07 December 2008 22:47)

1. America has the best health care in the world.

Let's bury this one once and for all. The United States is No. 1 in only one sense: the amount we shell out for health care. We have the most expensive system in the world per capita, but we lag behind many developed countries on virtually every health statistic you can name.

How to Avoid "made in China"Poison??...not so easy!

Looking to avoid food products made in China? I don't blame you: The country has become the world capitol of contaminated foods.

A circulating email claims that UPC barcodes reveal the country of origin for food products. Anything made in China, the email informs us, will begin with three digits in the range of 690 to 695.

Products made in the U.S. begin with 00 to 13, says the email.

This information is false. NaturalNews looked into the barcode issue to determine the reliability of this advice and found it to be pure fiction.

Many nutritional supplements made in the U.S., for example, actually begin with 85, and there is no correlation between the country in which a UPC symbol is registered and where a particular product is actually manufactured.

It's far better to look for the phrase, "Made in USA" (or whatever country you're in). Definitely avoid food products that say, "Made in China."

Big Pharma and the war on drugs
Many ADHD drugs are DEA-controlled amphetamines, for example. Selling these drugs on the street is a felony, but prescribing them to children is "treatment."

In the early 1900's, the Bayer company actually developed and marketed Bayer Heroin for Kids. It was marketed as a cough medicine. Guess what? Heroin stops you from coughing. (You're so high that you forget to cough.) They also said it was non-addictive. Just like cigarettes.

Revolution: From Fear to Truth
(NaturalNews) The western world has purposely been misled, intimidated and hypnotized by fear from nearly all established institutions of civilization. The best way to wire an individual's brain for fear is to consistently state the exact same premise over and over again regardless of the veracity of such statements. As neuroscientists predict, individuals will unconsciously begin to believe such statements and the more often these ideas are reinforced, the stronger the hard wiring becomes.

We live in a semi-conscious state of terrorism where our minds have ostensibly been pre-programmed for fear. As history has consistently shown mankind, the best way to control a population is through the institutionalization of fear. Cancer, debt, disease, terrorism, sleeper cells, war, Al Qaeda, and death are just some of the key words promulgated throughout our daily lives

The American Medical Association, by the way, endorsed both Bayer Heroin for kids AND cigarettes.

Weapons Of Mass Destruction Fraud Admitted by BUSH

THIS IS HUGE!!I think this is bigger news than the big three issue. Having George Bush admit that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and if he had it to do over ...we would not have gone to war. Here is the transcript from the interview with Charlie Gibson
...."Bush: The biggest regret of all the presidency has to have been the intelligence failure in Iraq. A lot of people put their reputations on the line and said, you know ... the weapons of mass destruction is a reason to remove Saddam Hussein. It wasn't just people in my administration, and um ... You know, that's not a do-over, but I wish the intelligence had been different, I guess.
Gibson: If the intelligence had been right, would there have been an Iraq war?
Bush: If he had had weapons of mass destruction, would there have been a war? Absolutely.
Gibson: No, if you had known he didn't.
Bush: Oh, I see what you're saying. Uh ... You know, that's an interesting question. That is a do-over I can't do. It's hard for me to speculate."

I have watched listened to many many very knowledgable people try and justify invading Iraq from the WMD perspective....which is the only legitamate possible reason. Those who fall back on "Saadam needed to be removed", "he was evil", or "we must liberate and bring democracy to those poor people" are the the religous right wingnuts that show up at Palin rally's yelling "Nigger", "Arab",and "drill baby drill", and like a crack head they see a terrorist on every corner.

"(CBS) In the aftermath of Sept. 11, President Bush ordered his then top anti-terrorism adviser to look for a link between Iraq and the attacks, despite being told there didn't seem to be one. "
Bush really threw a lot of his more intelligent supporters under the Bus with his "do over theory". The list of Bush insiders like Cheney,Powell,Condoleeza,Rumsfeld..etc. etc who stood up promising evidence of WMD's, Proof positive! Time went on and ...NADA,ZIP,Goose Egg.

Vaccination Nation $$$$$$$$

Seems like every day there is something in the news about Vaccines...and that is good. Today is an odd bit of news ..but very telling...the Atlanta AP says
.."About one in 10 U.S. doctors who vaccinate privately insured children are considering dropping that service largely because they are losing money when they do it, according to a new survey."

Reading this article made me recall a visit to Missoula doc Ted Lane to get the kids in compliance with the Mandated T-Dap shot....He was defensive and cavalier when questioned about the safety and or need of this vaccine...I wonder how eager he would be to give shots if he didn't make any $$$$$ off the Jabs? I had expected an intelligent and professional response after hearing about Ted's progressive opinion's on other health related things like dairy.
The article goes on to say
..."About half said they had delayed buying at least one vaccine because of the cost. Roughly one in five said they felt strongly that reimbursement for the purchase and administration of vaccines was not adequate."

I understand that doctors have a business, well they quaintly call it a practice but more and more it is a business...and I do not blame the docs...they are the ones on the front line...they depend on other support networks to help them help us, like they need adequate insurance. We all believe in the basic concept of insurance...but in my opinion the insurance industry is an evil parasite screwing us all. Then the pharma industry is supplying Doc's with bogus information and drugs undermining the entire system to make a a lot of money. So money becomes the big pay the high insurance premiums...they gotta push marginal if not idiotic drugs to make more money. The article continues with
...."Most pediatricians are likely to keep giving vaccinations to kids, partly because of altruism and partly because giving shots drives business. "For us to give up vaccines would hurt our core business because that's why kids come in," Lessin said.

But family practice doctors — who are not as dependent on vaccinations for patients — may decide the shots are too much of a financial headache, he added."

So then we see the propaganda machine at work scaring the lemmings into the clinics for some kinda treatment to avoid some horrible malady that was manufactured by the drug companies and/or the media. like the vaccine for HPV...the article ends by mentioning this cost..."
Some have been unusually expensive, including Gardasil, a vaccine for girls against cervical cancer which is given in three doses over six months and is priced at about $375 for the series."

I don't feel bad for the doc's, most wont embrace any change...its the way they were schooled and then if one of their comrades does so with out group out! They may just lynch anyone that attempts or say anything not in lock step with what they know...that is too threatening. Holy smokes what would happen if they had to think....??

FDA helps Bayer spreads aids? you think this is a joke...its not!

The NY Times aricles says....
"Even so, Dr. Meyer asked that the issue be ''quietly solved without alerting the Congress, the medical community and the public,'' according to Cutter's account of the 1985 meeting. Dr. Meyer said later that he could not recall making that statement, but another blood-product company's summary of the meeting also noted that the F.D.A. wanted the matter settled ''quickly and quietly.'' Dr. Meyer died in 2001."

Health Care Battles..get your facts Early

Be prepared for a lot of scare stemming from insurance and Pharma industry when it come to any health care innovative reform. They are the biggest pigs at the trough with the most to lose. People need to rise up and support mandatory health care for every person. People en mass need to reject propaganda and fear tactics from BIG Business. Here are some recent articles you should get familiar with.

Health Industry Finds strategy to influence the Public
"Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) recently summed up the dilemma in an interview with Politico, saying, "The big thing for Republicans is to communicate that it is not acceptable for 40 million people in America not to have health insurance. But it's also unacceptable to turn our whole health care system over to the same people who ran Katrina and ran the Iraq war and [are] running the bailout.""

Melamine and FDA protection(er Lack of)
There are three things you need to understand about this issue: First, after the melamine scandal broke in China and sickened tens of thousands of babies, the FDA assured the American people that U.S. infant formula products were 100% safe and contained no melamine.

They were wrong.

Secondly, when the FDA's own tests discovered melamine contamination in U.S. infant formula products, it actively sought to hide the test results from the public. It only disclosed the test results after being forced to do so by a FOIA petition filed by the Associated Press. (We gotta thank AP for doing this, by the way. Nice job on their part!)

Thirdly, once the melamine contamination results were made public, the FDA abruptly announced that 1ppm (or less) of melamine in infant formula was suddenly "safe." This decision was based on no science whatseover and was obviously a panicked defense of the U.S. infant formula manufacturers whose products are contaminated with melamine.

Trickle Down Affect???
Big Pharma Conspiracy: Doctors Regularly Bribed
So when your local doc wants to put your kids on heavy drugs...he was most likely influenced un-wittingly by the top dogs at places like Harvard. So when you present a question or a concern, The docs will quip..."don't believe everything you read on the Internet!" because they perused their medical journal that was bought and paid for by big business...ask questions!
"....the Harvard researchers have also pushed for the aggressive treatment of the disease with antipsychotics, which are not licensed for such a use. The discovery that those same researchers concealed massive payments from the drug industry has cast further doubt on their motivations, and has led many to wonder if too many children are now being diagnosed and treated with potentially dangerous drugs...."

Breast Cancer news...GOOD!

Got your lucky pink ribbon handy?? All the money and PR pushing women to get mammograms as a form of early they can save their lives by getting the essential surgery and Chemo....GOOD NEWS.... May not be the best advice after all. It appears that the human body may be dealing with some cancers with out intervention. A Norwegian study reported by JAMA says

..."Breast cancer rates increased significantly in four Norwegian counties after women there began undergoing mammography every two years, according to a report in the November 24 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. Rates among regularly screened women remained higher than rates among women of the same age who were screened only once after six years, suggesting that some of the cancers detected by mammography may have spontaneously regressed had they not been discovered and treated."

Those fringe medical professionals and quacks have been warning us for some time that mammograms may not only agravate breast cancer calls, but may cause cancer. Turns out that this study shows some breast cancers may go away on their is what the Journal said

...."The findings do not answer the question of whether mammograms prevent deaths from breast cancer, the authors note. "Instead, our findings simply provide new insight on what is arguably the major harm associated with mammographic screening, namely, the detection and treatment of cancers that would otherwise regress," they conclude."

Sherry Baker writing for Natural News says..."Simply put, it appears that some invasive breast cancers simply go away on their own, healed by the body's own immune system."

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women in the USA, this does not mean we stop treating but gives us hopefull insight into the nature of this type of cancer

JAMA also said.....

..."This does not mean breast cancer should be ignored or not treated. After all, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among American women. But the extraordinarily good and hopeful news is that it appears invasive breast cancer sometimes can be destroyed naturally -- at least in some people -- by the body's own innate defenses."

Coke and Childrens Brain function

This is a part of a video that explains brain chemistry and the assault we are under from drugs, foods and environmental factors. This is worth watching and looking into further...

In his first book, Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills (Health Press, 1994), Dr. Blaylock made the connection between food additives (in particular, monosodium glutamate and aspartame) and degenerative diseases of the nervous system — Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and ALS.

Citing new studies, Dr. Blaylock revisits the increasingly inescapable relationship between food chemistry and degenerative disorders.

Here is another snippit....

The issues and data that Dr. Blaylock references is not new, it is just under reported in the main stream media. Using the information here gives each of us tools to be proactive in dealing with our own health and that of our families.

Here is one more sample video that documents what happens when legitimate journalists try and report the facts. Corporate profits again and again take priority over moral and ethical behavior.

It is up to you....keep informing yourself and vote Bad corporations out of business with your from good local companies...don't buy from multinational companies that avoid paying taxes will sell you anything to make a buck.

Example; Coca Cola exploits slave labor, registers shell companies in off shore accounts to exploit tax loopholes, and subversively markets a product that can harm you and your family.

The University of Montana for example has an exclusive contract with Coke that is shrouded in secrecy...why?

31 years of Department of Energy Failure

In 1977 President Jimmy Carter instituted the Dept. of Energy with the urgent need to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Since that time the DOE has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year. Carter began a televised speech by saying...
..."Tonight I want to have an unpleasant talk with you about a problem unprecedented in our history. With the exception of preventing war, this is the greatest challenge our country will face during our lifetimes. The energy crisis has not yet overwhelmed us, but it will if we do not act quickly."

Carter added...
"Because we are now running out of gas and oil, we must prepare quickly for a third change, to strict conservation and to the use of coal and permanent renewable energy sources, like solar power."

He didn't say "drill baby drill" he mentioned diversification and conservation...It appears the DOE has done a superb job.

Some of the specific points Carter laid out were..
"The sixth principle, and the cornerstone of our policy, is to reduce the demand through conservation. Our emphasis on conservation is a clear difference between this plan and others which merely encouraged crash production efforts. Conservation is the quickest, cheapest, most practical source of energy. Conservation is the only way we can buy a barrel of oil for a few dollars. It costs about $13 to waste it."

"The tenth principle is that we must start now to develop the new, unconventional sources of energy we will rely on in the next century."

It is clear that the intention of the DOE has been bastardized by special interest. Carter also mentions that those who drive gas guzzlers and inefficient vehicles should be penalized. Instead The government gives tax breaks to consumers for buying them and incentives for US car makers to keep producing inferior product. Now they beg for help(money), I want to send them a copy of the documentary "Who Killed the Electric car"

Carter went on to lay out some, that would make me think they meant it! Here they are, judge for yourself how successfully we have been...
"These are the goals we set for 1985:

--Reduce the annual growth rate in our energy demand to less than two percent.

--Reduce gasoline consumption by ten percent below its current level.

--Cut in half the portion of United States oil which is imported, from a potential level of 16 million barrels to six million barrels a day.

--Establish a strategic petroleum reserve of one billion barrels, more than six months' supply.

--Increase our coal production by about two thirds to more than 1 billion tons a year.

--Insulate 90 percent of American homes and all new buildings.

--Use solar energy in more than two and one-half million houses.

Carter also talks about making us, uhm, a different kinda rich....
"Other generation of Americans have faced and mastered great challenges. I have faith that meeting this challenge will make our own lives even richer. If you will join me so that we can work together with patriotism and courage, we will again prove that our great nation can lead the world into an age of peace, independence and freedom."

In hind sight we have seen that growth is moth important and we ha vent embraced any kind of growth that doesn't involve consumption and rabid consumerism.

When I look at recent history and I reflect on what President elect Obama sermonizes...I don't have a lot of faith.

That is OK because ultimately the real solution will come from you and me....Not the government.

The entire text of President Carter's speech can be found here..

Real Doctor criticizes health professionals

I couldn't help but respond to a post in a blog I was is a snippet of this guys critique (source)
"One of the worst types of drivel is naturopathy. This "specialty" advertises itself as "medicine-plus", but really it's "healing-minus": minus the evidence, minus the training, minus intelligent thought."

Sounds harsh...but he goes on.......
..."First, like all fake doctors, this place has lots of testimonials in place of real evidence. I don't list testimonials at my office. It's tacky, and it doesn't give a measure of success in keeping people healthy. All it measures is how much someone liked a doctor as a person."

Well this "real" doc. is afraid to use his name in his rants about Naturopaths, but if you are so can email him at

The link to this article go read it and leave your own comment...I did! Here is what I said....
....."You sound threatened...!! We just lost our 9 year old to cancer at Seattle children's...what an education! after his death our Harvard educated doctor and others told us they knew he would die!! and that "they wanted us to have hope from the chemo and other treatment they provided". well that was a change from what they were saying during treatment...treatment that was essentially anything that came from a pharmaceutical company.
This selling us hope at a very high price is what the establishment is going after homeopathic and natural cure companies for!! shouldn't I be able to choose the type of hope..false or real that I want.
until you wake up and and open up to alternatives and integrate progressive approaches in your practice, you are only doing your patients and yourself harm. Yes, the problem is systemic and there are no easy answers...but clearly bashing as you say "well intentioned professionals" only discredits you!"

Obama appointees in question...Daschle?

I read an article in one of my favorite sites,Judicial Watch that was very critical of Obamas's pick of Daschle for Head of the Health and Human Services. The letter by Tom finton outlines how Obama has broken his campaign promise....

..."At issue is Mr. Daschle's work since leaving the Senate four years ago as a board member of the Mayo Clinic and a highly paid adviser to health care clients at the law and lobbying firm Alston & Bird.
In a detailed list of campaign promises, Mr. Obama pledged that "no political appointees in an Obama administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years."

And then there is his wife...

..."Of course, in addition to Daschle's personal conflicts of interest, there is also the matter of his wife, Linda Daschle, who has been a lobbyist for many years."
This is concerning and worth watching..especially for health care advocates and reformers.

On the flip side, David Kirby a respected author made some important points in his article on the Huffington Post concerning daschle and his record.
"By nominating Tom Daschle to head up the Department, President Elect Obama has selected a man who has demonstrated an unflinching willingness to question vaccine safety, and to fight for the rights of those people who believe they have been, or may be, seriously injured by certain vaccinations."

Daschle and Lieberman fought Dick Armey when he slipped a rider into the Homeland security bill at the last minute that protected drug companies and severely limited the rights of citizens injured.
Kirby also says
..."The military has reported that up to 2% of all military service members may have received debilitating injuries from vaccines they were given. That could mean upwards of 48,000 men and women, some of them likely wounded by the same anthrax vaccine that Senator Daschle was trying to kill.

Again, I am sure that Senator Daschle is not anti-vaccine, and I have no idea what his views are on the vaccine-autism debate today.

But I do know that, six years ago, he said that "mercury-based vaccine preservatives actually have caused autism in children." And I know that he tried to stop production of a vaccine that he felt was hurting far too many people.

Senator Baucus from Montana has already unveiled a plan on health care reform. The key issues are expanded medicaid and medicare, and requiring employers to pay for benefits.

This is gonna be ugly! We will see what it means for Monatnans

Vaccine fear...your not alone

vaccine fearSeems to me that there are two camps developing in reference to the hot topic of vaccination. Fear seems to have underpinnings in most people sentiments, be it getting a dreaded life altering disease like Whooping cough or will the vaccine cause Autism or some other horrible reaction. Good and credible information is key for many of us to make good choices for ourselves and our families, and there is a lot of information much of it mis-information or information that is complex and confusing. Doctor have a Legal and Ethical obligation to have a communication process with patients that can be referred to as informed consent, this includes but is not limited to disclosing and discussing the risks and benefits of a treatment or proceedure.

Recently we took our two kids to get the required T-dAP shots to the family pediatrician. The kids nervouse about the shots politely asked the doctor some specific legitamate questions. The doctor clearly showed his impatience and responded that he really didnt have time to answer and we could reschedule. I couldnt believe the unprofessional cavalier attitude. Sadly this is a systemic morale problem that transcends the individual Doctor with profound adverse affects on us all.

The reason I decided to write this post is because I heard about a new local Doc. here in Missoula that was hosting a presentation on vaccines. Dr. Teresita Martinez of the Golgi clinic will share her personal and professional perspectives on this very important topic, I plan to attend. I certianly have formed some strong opinions regarding the issue as you may know ...especially if you have read other sections of this blog. First I was impressed that Dr. Martinez is brave enough to take the time to get involved with the community this way...(perhaps she doesnt like to golf). Second...I decided to call the clinic and feel it out, I got to speak with Dr. Martinez and ask a few refreshing, I got real answers.

GMO not so Common Sense

melonmmnjk.jpgThe battle against science, as some would have you believe rages on. True food group is active about Genetic modified animal and says this...

...." Genetically engineered animals may be heading to your local supermarket faster than you think. Though creating animals in a lab sounds like science fiction, it’s happening right now..."

There seems to be a frenzied push to get GMO foods into our lives, I didnt know the biotech companies cared about us and the starving 3rd world children so is what they are saying....
"The development of golden rice was, it seemed, compelling and inspiring evidence that GM crops are the answer to malnutrition and hunger. Time quoted former U.S. President Jimmy Carter: “Responsible biotechnology is not the enemy, starvation is.”

One Monsanto ad tells the public: “Biotechnology is one of tomorrow’s tools in our hands today. Slowing its acceptance is a luxury our hungry world cannot afford.” On the Food Revolution site John adds

..."For countless centuries farmers have fed humanity by saving the seed from one years crop to plant the following year. But Monsanto, the company that claims its motives are to help feed the hungry, has developed what it calls a “Technology Protection System” that renders seeds sterile. Commonly known as “terminator technology,” and developed with taxpayer funding by the USDA and Delta & Pine Land Company (an affiliate of Monsanto), the process genetically alters seeds so that their offspring will be sterile for all time. If employed, this technology would ensure that farmers cannot save their own seeds, but would have to come back to Monsanto year after year to purchase new ones."

The entire premise that we can feed the hungry with GMO technology seems flawed when we pay farmers in the USA 1.8 billion dollars to not farm. Here in Montana we have 3.3 million acres enrolled in this government program 2nd highest of the almost 35 million acres nation wide.

There is some benefit from the conservation recovery program, environmentalists and hunters are pleased, and markets are stablized. The USDA site states

..."CRP protects millions of acres of American topsoil from erosion and is designed to safeguard the Nation's natural resources. By reducing water runoff and sedimentation, CRP protects groundwater and helps improve the condition of lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams. Acreage enrolled in the CRP is planted to resource-conserving vegetative covers, making the program a major contributor to increased wildlife populations in many parts of the country."

The bottom line I must sadly admit, is that Monsanto and other biotech companies care about 1 thing....and that is making money...and by controlling our food source we will be enslaved to them and their Patents. This is assuming all this Franken food is safe, either way you will pay and pay to eat
